Home Battery System GuidePowerwall 3 is Tesla's flagship home battery. It targets whole home backup, energy independence, and grid services. The system pairs a built in solar inverter with a stationary battery.
Capacity and Power Output
Tesla rates Powerwall 3 at 13.5 kWh of nominal battery energy. The unit delivers up to 11.5 kW AC of continuous power per Powerwall. Tesla lists several nominal output configurations, from 5.8 kW up to 11.5 kW.
The system also supports solar directly. Tesla states Powerwall 3 supports up to 20 kW DC of solar input. This lets the battery and solar share one inverter.
Off grid discharge can reach higher figures. Tesla lists a configurable maximum continuous off grid discharge of 15.4 kW when the on grid rating is 11.5 kW.
Warranty
Tesla warrants Powerwall 3 for 10 years. The warranty term appears directly in the product datasheet specifications table.
The battery is scalable for larger needs. Tesla lists energy scalability of up to 3 expansion units, for a maximum total of 7 units.
